What is NLDS?
The AMSA National Leadership Development Seminar (NLDS) is held in our nation’s capital, Canberra. This 3 day seminar provides delegates with the opportunity to hear from and question parliamentarians and other leaders about issues facing medical students and Australia’s health care system today. Attendees also participate in workshops design to improve their advocacy, media and communication skills.
NLDS gives students a chance to explore the concepts associated with leadership with prominent figures involved in both Australian health and politics.
The cost of NLDS in 2012 is expected to be around $600 which includes all flights, accommodation, meals and the 3-day academic program.
In previous years, the cost of registration for many delegates has been covered by local medical student societies or medical faculties. Get in contact with your local AMSA rep by clicking here to find out if your MedSoc will support you in your attendance costs.
If you have any questions about the National Leadership Development Seminar please contact nlds@amsa.org.au.
Who can apply?
Any medical student from any medical school in Australia who has not already attended NLDS is welcomed, and encouraged to apply. Applications are only open to those students who have not already had the opportunity to attend NLDS as general delegate. Students are not permitted to attend NLDS more than once during their studies.
