AMSA History

The Beginnings of AMSA

In 1960, medical students from around Australia met in Brisbane for their first national conference. Never before had Australian med students come together as one body to discuss ideas, share information and voice their opinions and concerns. Beyond the scope of a national conference, there was a clear need for an organisation to represent and support the interests of medical students on a national level - AMSA was born.

AMSA History Project

From humble beginnings in the land of big pineapples and retirees, AMSA has had a colourful, wonderful an eventful history. Unforntunately, it seems as though everyone was having a far to great a time to record any of it. In the past few years we've realised the follies of our disorganised ways and have made a commitment to recognise and rediscover our past.

Any leads to any Convention paraphernalia and photos, executive teams, publications, med soc reports, personalities, and campaigns are in demand. So go forth and search for our roots, for our forefounding fathers and mothers. Ask your local grey haired GP, ask that guy in your year who should have finished 7 years ago, ask your examiner....every little bit helps.

'Remier rules- A Convention Must-Know

'Remier League is one of the games we 'lay at Convention… and 'retty much any event where 2 more medical students congregate. Well, it's actually a combination of seven games, all 'layed at once. Why do we 'lay? To get 'issed.

It's the most fun you can have while you're 'laying drinking games, and is not as hard as it looks or sounds. It is almost impossible to learn 'Remier just by reading the rules here.
