GLOBAL

Global health is high on the medical student agenda.

Through its association with the International Federation of Medical Student Associations' (IFMSA), AMSA offers Australian students the chance to attend IFMSA General Assemblies to discuss pertinent global health issues. Senior students are also able to use the IFMSA Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE) network to access overseas exchanges and electives.

The Global Health Network (GHN) is AMSA's chief representative body for international health, and is comprised of a GHN representative from each medical school's Global Health Group (GHG). On the ground, Global Health Groups facilitate international health projects and advocacy activities.

AMSA recognises its place in a coalition of international students and also supports a delegation to the Asian Medical Students' Association Conference (AMSC) every year.

AMSA is continuing to collate information about electives with the aim of making international elective placements easier to organise and more accesible to Australia's medical students. We will soon be calling upon you to submit information about your experiences with electives, so stay tuned for the launch of the database!
