International Students' Network
1 in 5 medical students at Australian Universities are from overseas, and AMSA strives to represent every one of these students as effectively as possible.
International students face some troubling medico-political issues. To better advocate for these students, AMSA must have a comprehensive understanding of their issues and opinions.
In 2010 the Association therefore plans to re-activate the International Students’ Network (ISN), which will serve to facilitate communication and discussion between international students regarding the issues that particularly affect them.
The ISN will collect and analyse student opinion and other relevant data, generate policy for discussion at AMSA Council, and develop submissions to stakeholders. Furthermore, the Network will strive to provide more and better information to prospective international students – ensuring they are informed of all the issues they will face before committing to an Australian medical degree.
