AMSA Life in the Real World 2009

Saturday 11th July
9am to 2pm
Tattersall's Club, Brisbane
Minimum Dress Requirements: Smart Casual

Life in the Real World is an event designed to provide you with the skills necessary to juggle your life outside of medicine. It will be run in three themes:
  • Life as an intern’, aimed at students in their final year of medicine, will focus on what you need to know next year and beyond.
  • Financial planning for students’ is designed for those of us who are just trying to keep afloat while we’re studying. It will focus on income, budgeting, savings and sources of credit for those larger expenses.
  • Investing early’, for those of us with larger disposable incomes thanks to a job on the side, scholarship or mysterious benefactor, will discuss ways to use your money more effectively.
In addition, you’ll be able to enjoy a complimentary breakfast and morning tea, put questions to a panel of professional experts and have a chat with service providers to the medical industry.

A limited number of places are available for Convention delegates, for a nominal fee of $10, so make sure you sign up during the Convention registration period.

A Map to the Tattersall's Club will be available closer to the date.

UPDATE: AMSA is pleased to announce an additional 60 registrations for the previously sold out Life in the Real World seminar. Attendance at the AMSA National Convention is not a prerequisite for registration and any medical students who will be in Brisbane on Saturday 11 July 2009 are welcome to attend.

This event will feature presentations by MIPS, Health Super, Medic Oncall and The Doctors' Health Fund, who will describe some of the things you should know before entering the workforce. There will also be opportunities to mingle with professional representatives and put questions to a panel of industry experts.

As if this wasn't enough reason to sign up, all delegates will receive a seminar satchel bag and complementary breakfast and morning tea.

So what are you waiting for? Register online now!

PLEASE NOTE: Tattersall's Club requires smart casual dress. This means long sleeve button up shirts and trousers are required for men and the equivalent for women. Denim, sneakers and shorts are NOT PERMITTED. AMSA will not refund registrations for people that are refused entry.
