Melbourne is well connected via train, plane and automobile (or boat, for our Tasmanian friends).
By Air
Firstly, you'll need a flight to one of Melbourne's two airports (Avalon and Tullamarine)

There are various ways to travel from Tullamarine to the city
- Taxi
Unless sharing with a few friends, this probably isn't in the budget of most GHCers. - Skybus
Approximately $15 each way, Skybus runs a direct service from Tullamarine to Southern Cross Station (in the city). Skybus also offers free transfers to hotels, subject to conditions available on the website. - Sunbus
Approximately $21 each way, Sunbus offers a “Meet & Greet” service with a direct transfer from Melbourne Airport to Central Business District accommodation and vice versa. This service must be pre-booked by email or faxed to Sunbus Melbourne at least 48 hours prior to arrival.
From Avalon airport, the choices are less varied
- Taxi
As above - Sunbus
Approximately $19 each way, Sunbus offers a service from Avalon to Southern Cross Station (in the city). For a little extra, Sunbus will take you to your final CBD destination.
By Train
V-Line tickets can be purchased as cheap as $24 with a student concession card and in during off-peak season.
A group of more than 12 may also apply for certain concessions rates.
For more information go to www.vline.com.au or phone 136 196.

By Road
Melbourne is around 900kms from Adelaide, and 1000kms from Sydney. As such, the journeys are nine and ten hours respectively (including a few short breaks). Please register with the GHC car pooling service and we will put you in touch with other med students from your city who would also like to drive down.
Parking at the arranged accommodation is currently unconfirmed.
By Boat
The Sprit of Tasmania offers one-way tickets from $102 and for $61 you can take your car too.
