Time is running out to apply for NLDS

Time is running out to apply to attend the AMSA National Leadership Development Seminar (NLDS) – applications close 31 July 2010.   

The annual AMSA NLDS will be held in Canberra from Sunday 29 August until Wednesday 1 September and will bring together 80 medical students from around Australia to discuss issues integral to health, education, politics and leadership. 

It will offer a unique opportunity for medical students to gain vital skills in advocacy and communication. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from inspirational leaders, policy-makers, and a range of leading professionals.

We are pleased to announce a sneak peak at the NLDS program:

  • Healthcare reform panel featuring Dr Mukesh Haikerwal (former AMA President and E-health expert), Dr Nola Maxfield (President of Rural Doctors Association of Australia), Mr Mark Cormack (CEO of Health Workforce Australia), Ross Roberts-Thomson (AMSA President), Dr Michael Bonning (Chair of the AMA Doctors in Training Committee)
  • Media skills panel featuring the AMA’s Public Relations Guru John Flannery
  • A two and half hour public speaking and presentation skills workshop from a leading professional
  • Leadership skills workshops from Dr Andrew Perry (former chair of the AMA CDT and former Vice President of AMSA), Dr Michael Bonning (current chair of the AMA CDT and past AMSA President) and Dr Rob Mitchell (Deputy chair of the AMA CDT and past AMSA President)
  • Delegate debate at Old Parliament House
