"Why sign up for membership?"

  1. The capacity to refer any medical school or training issue to the AMSA National Advocacy Team for escalation to the Medical Board of Australia (MBA), the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), the Australian Medical Council (AMC), the AMA or the Federal Government.
  2. Access to attend AMSA's ten annual national events, including the National Convention, Global Health Conference (GHC), Rural Health Summit (RHS), National Leadership Development Seminar (NLDS), National Council, Global Health Forum and the Global Health Intensive.
  3. Access to AMSA's portal of exam resources including question banks, clinical fact sheets, OSCE scenarios and research guides.
  4. Invitations to AMSA Member Webinars, covering topics such as financial management for medical students, career planning, internship readiness, CV writing and more.
  5. Access to Wavelength LGBTQIA+ Medical Education online modules [COMING SOON].

"What does membership cost?"

Membership for your whole degree is $30, or one year is $10.

"What is my vote in the National Council?"

AMSA members are invited to vote for the AMSA National Executive and Board Director Nominees. Should you choose not to vote, your vote will be automatically proxied to your Medical Society AMSA Representative. At National Council AMSA Representatives vote on behalf of their university members (one vote each) and their Medical Society (250 votes).

"I thought I was automatically an AMSA member?"

AMSA has and will continue to advocate for the needs of all medical students. However, to attend National Events and to access member benefits you will need to actively sign up to become a member.
